be personal

Maybe we should all slow dance?

Earlier this month we went to a wedding that was the loveliest of them all.
A wedding that was all about what it should be:
The Love.
It was a wedding which made us stop, think and be thankful for what we have.
To appreciate life and to say “I love you” more often for you truly never do know what will appear round that next bend in life.
We are quite sure that every lovely person at that wedding, has a wee bit of a different outlook on life now…

The beautiful bride had asked if she could write a wee blog tale for us…..
We were honoured.
But time was against Alison and sadly, she never got the chance.
Had she written a blog tale… you would have been inspired.
So this is for Ali….
{Alison shared this poem on her facebook page just a few short weeks ago}

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.

Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask How are you?
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?
You’d better slow down
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.

Ever told your child,
We’ll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say,”Hi”
You’d better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.

The music won’t last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift…..
Thrown away.
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower

Hear the music before the song is over.

Here’s to you Ali.
One of life’s best ones.

“may you spread your wings and reach the stars tonight”.

All our Love
Kevin, Nikki & the girls, Claire & John

  1. This is beautiful! I went to school with Alison and her and my younger sister were best friends till the sad end. I hope she can now be pain free and can see her beautiful son grow up. Goodbye Ali you will be missed ❀xxxxx
